WOMEN’S DAY HANGOVER !

March 9, 2014 Blog

Do we really know
What we are fighting for……………….?
………….. Dressing up like men?
Or……….Drinking and smoking like men?
Or……….Riding a bike like men?
Even Better Peeing like men?
What are we fighting for?
………….Sharing equal financial responsibilities with your men?
Or……….Sharing the kitchen for cooking with your men?
Or……….Sharing responsibility of changing diapers for your infants with your men?
Even Better taking kids for a pee in social gatherings?
What are we fighting for?
…………………Equal nutrition?
…………………Equal education?
…………………Equal opportunities?
…………………Equal recognition?
Even better giving your own name to your child?
What are we fighting for?
…………..Freeeeedom…………….?
………….Equaaaality……………….?
……………Protection………………..?
……………Empowerment…………..?
Even better not to be called a whore but a casanova?

There are many questions at a macro level concerned with politics, economy and development but what are we doing at the micro level is the main question.
Do we really know what we are fighting for and where will this fight in the name of gender equality take us?
Already the gender gap as projected by UN is wide and widening it even more by shouting and fighting is not the solution. Everybody can’t do everything. Even in an organisation we identify people with skills and qualities best suited to carry out a job for maximum productivity. We need to segregate jobs at the micro level so that they can be carried out in the best possible fashion and that can be done only if men and women are friends and not enemies.
“Equality for women is progress for all” is the UN theme for International Women’s Day 2014.
Women’s day is a day to celebrate their achievements and develop a road map for further development but it’s reduced to selling cosmetics by International Brands and why not?……… Looking good is also an integral part of one’s self development.
Having clarity on our priorities as a woman is most important. Somewhere most women are confused about the term empowerment. Is staying at home and raising your kids in the best possible manner for the better development of mankind not empowerment? At the micro level we are a little messed up as macro level problems can be be tackled if not easily by making laws.
Let us not lose our identity in the rat race of matching up with men. There is no match. Both the genders have their role to play and that too together. Productivity is maximum when a person enjoys the work that he or she does. Enriching a soul is hence more important which in turn leads to enriching a Nation or world.
……………………So women reach out and do what makes you happy. The day we have freedom to make that choice, we will not need any Women’s Day. Every day will be a Women’s day with Men having equal share by supplementing each other’s weaknesses and complementing each other’s strengths.
